April 1, 2025 – “Reduce the Number of Overdose Fatalities, with a Focus on Fentanyl” and “Provide Treatment That Leads to Long-Term Recovery” are among the six key areas that the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy will focus on during its first year. The Statement of Drug Policy Priorities outlines the office’s plan to increase access to overdose prevention education and opioid overdose reversal medications, expanding treatment to medications for opioid use disorder and improving the integration of mental health treatment with clinical and recovery support services.
