July 11, 2025 – The National Association of State Controlled Substances Authorities (NASCSA) is pleased to report that once again, state Prescription Monitoring Program Administrators (PMP) have assisted the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) by providing data to DEA that assists in establishing aggregate production quotas (APQ) for certain drugs as required by Congress.
A record 31 states and 3 territories provided this information which exceeds the number of states/territories providing this information in 2024.
DEA is required under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) to establish aggregate production quotas (APQ) for each basic class of controlled substance in schedules I and II, and the list I chemicals ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, and phenylpropanolamine, to be manufactured to provide for the estimated medical, scientific, research, and industrial needs of the United States, for lawful export requirements, and for the establishment and maintenance of reserve stocks.
